In the France, land of wine, there’s a region of Alsace. In the Alsace, one of the most developed regions in France, there’s a city of Schiltigheim, fifth-largest town of the region and home of the French FC Partizan. We talked to its founder Erick Maitre:
Tell us something about yourself.
- I am 30 years old policeman Erick Maitre, president of Partizan Schiltigheim. I’m French with Serbian and Italian origins, and I used to play football which is my greatest passion.
How did you hear about Partizan?
- I’m a big football fan since ever, and while I was listening about Serbian “Eternal derby” and two great Belgrade clubs, I knew that I have to go to Serbia. When I arrived, I was surrounded by Grobari, their passion, black and white atmosphere and I was introduced in club history. All of those attracted me, and I made my choice, my heart became black and white.
How did you come up with an idea to form a team?
- Last year, I was talking to my friend Sylvain Andre (secretary of the Partizan Schiltigheim) one day about creating a team that will represent our town. We have instantly had idea to name it Partizan, and with the name of our town, we associated the values of France and Serbia.
Are you in contact with the board of Partizan Belgrade and do you plan some joint actions in future?
- We have had the honor of appearing on the club's official website two times. Also, we have talked about organizing some kind of meeting and weekend in Belgrade, which would include stadium tour, support on one of the matches and a friendly game with some local team. Nothing has been organized yet, but we have a motivation and desire to achieve that.
Since three French basketball players play in Partizan, is there black and white fan potential?
- Oh yes, you have a lot of fans here, especially in Alsace. Leo Westermann was born in Haguenau, which is just 20 km from our town, so we intend to contact him soon, maybe he would like to send us a signed jersey.
Which league do you play in?
- Partizan Schiltigheim is playing in Alsace championship at the moment (7 football and futsal). Currently, we’re second placed in that competition.
Do you intend to go on professional level?
- We need to organize ourselves and set goals. Since we’re still young, we will grow and learn from our older brother. We still need to obtain the necessary equipment, find partners, but the most important thing is that we have to prove ourselves worthy to wear black and white stripes here in France.
So we might go on professional level one day. You never know what is going to happen tomorrow.

U Francuskoj, zemlji izvrsnog vina, postoji Alzaška regija.
Sve to me je, naravno, privuklo, i ja sam izabrao svoju stranu.
Možda jednoga dana i postanemo profesionalan klub.
